Norwich marks World Day of Prayer tomorrow

NORWICH – The annual ecumenical 2010 World Day of Prayer service and luncheon  will be held this year at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, corner of W. Main and Elm St. in Norwich on Friday at noon. The program, put on by participants from a number of local churches features the nation of Cameroon in West Africa. The  public is invited to attend, and to stay for the luncheon immediately following the Parish Hall. The event is timed to be convenient for the lunch break of those at work. and parking is readily available across the street.
The World Day of Prayer (WDP) is a worldwide movement of women of many Christian traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. Services begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on that day of celebration. The service, written by a different country each year is based on the belief that prayer and action are inseparable, and can have immeasurable positive influence in the world. A free will offering will be collected for Cameroon and other WDP grants. For more information, call the church office at 334-8801.
