New Berlin election decided by one vote

NEW BERLIN – The New Berlin Village Board election came down to a difference of just a single vote Tuesday, with three candidates vying for two open seats.

New Berlin Village Clerk Diann Davisson reported incumbent trustees Paul Wasko and Robert Starr received 79 and 71 votes, respectively, with challenger and former mayor Carol Riley receiving 70.

This is a second narrow defeat for Riley, who lost the 2009 mayoral race to the current mayor after launching a last-minute write-in campaign.
