Greene EMS Capt. accused of rape
GREENE – The head of the Village of Greene’s Ambulance service was arrested Wednesday by the New York State Police, accused of forcibly raping and abusing a young woman.
Police have charged 29-year-old Kevin S. Oleniacz with first degree rape, a B class felony and forcible touching, a misdemeanor.
New York State Police Investigator Michelle M. Marshall said the two alleged crimes occurred at different dates. She said the alleged rape took place at in the Town of Greene inside of a residence in November and was reported in February.
After making the complaint, the alleged victim was allegedly accosted by Oleniacz again on March 4 in the Village of Greene. The alleged victim contacted police the same day of the incident, reported Marshall.
Greene Police Chief Steve Dutcher said his department aided in the investigation and took the original complaint. Dutcher confirmed Thursday that Oleniacz was the Squad Captain of the Greene Emergency Medical Services, paid part-time and was also a volunteer.
“For all the parties involved, I decided it was in the best interest of justice to hand the case over to the State Police,” said Dutcher, noting he currently had no female officers on staff and that state police investigators routinely worked with victims of sex crimes.
Oleniacz was arraigned in Town of Oxford and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
The Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday that Oleniacz posted the full bail amount and was released from custody the same day he was arrested.
