Chenango County 4-Hers take part in Knowledge Contest
CHENANGO COUNTY – Chenango County 4-H Youth have spent the month of March competing in regional horse and dairy knowledge competitions with outstanding results. From hippology to horse bowl to dairy bowl, members have shined!
Chenango County sent 13 youth to the hippology contest at El Rancho de Pas in Tioga County on March 6. The Novice teams were 3rd and 4th respectively while the Junior team was 3rd and the Senior Team finished 3rd. Individually, Chenango fielded 3 of the Top 10 Novice: Logan Stoltman 3rd, Eli Stoltman 9th, Kaitlyn Stoltman 10th; Juniors: Nathan Turrell 5th; Seniors: Kayla Geier 5th, and Megan Brandt 7th. Nathan and Kayla are eligible to compete at the State 4-H Hippology Contest at the NY State Fair.
At the Horse Bowl Contest, held at Chenango Forks High School March 20th, 8 youth competed in intense competition. Results were quite good as Chenango County will be represented at the State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest. The Novice team was 1st, Junior team 3rd and Senior team 3rd while individual results were as follows: Hayley Brace 1st Novice, Nathan Turrell 2nd Junior, Katelyn Brandt 8th Junior, Taylor Wolf 2nd Senior, and Kayla Geier 5th Senior. Good luck to Nathan, Taylor, and Kayla as they go on to States!
The Dairy Bowl contest was also held at Chenango Forks on March 20th. Chenango County was represented by 14 youth. Results were outstanding and are as follows: Juniors, 4th Team, Eli Stoltman 2nd individual; Senior B, 1st Team, Logan Stoltman 2nd individual, Dakota Warren 4th individual; Senior A, 1st Team, Kassie Abrams 1st individual, Noah Ives 10th individual. Good luck to Eli and Kassie as they represent Chenango County at the State 4-H Dairy Bowl Contest at Cornell University on April 24th!
