Easter Egg Hunt in New Berlin tomorrow

NEW BERLIN – With warm weather predicted for this weekend, the organizers of New Berlin’s annual Easter Egg hunt have ordered extra eggs and expect large crowds.
The event takes place at Hyde Park along New Berlin’s Main Street at 1 p.m. Saturday with more than 1,200 hidden eggs.
Village of New Berlin Trustee Terry Potter said the village donated the candy and other costs associated with the annual event after collecting contributions from number of local businesses.
“It’s a simple event that brings kids and adults together by having some holiday fun,” said Potter.
Children at the event will also have the chance get a picture with the Easter Bunny. For $3 parents can purchase a picture, with the money being donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Last year the event raised around $400 for the group.
Organizers ordered an additional 200 plastic eggs on top of the 1,000 already purchased for the event. Each egg will have a small quantity of candy inside, but some special eggs will contain slips for larger prizes that can be claimed after the hunt, including giant chocolate bunnies.
Potter explained that each age group would have a specific color egg for its category so multiple age groups wouldn’t have to compete with each other.
Potter also thanked fellow trustee and local department store manager Paul Wasko whose employer, the Oneonta Wal-Mart, donated a new digital camera and printer to the village. The camera will take digital pictures at the event and transfer them to a nearby printer which will print out a picture for parents.
