Cui’s work featured in Bainbridge
aBAINBRIDGE – In celebration of the Town Hall Theater’s 100th Anniversary, The Jericho Arts Council invites the public to a special gallery show.
Jian Cui (pronounced “swee”) is currently an assistant professor of Art at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. His art career began in his native China, where he earned a BFA in Sculpture from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He earned an MA in Computer Art from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, and an MFA in New Media from Pennsylvania State University.
Cui has a remarkable range of artistic ability, from drawing and painting to sculpture to digital media. His Bainbridge show will offer a sampling of beautiful paintings as well as a special video presentation he created. The paintings, influenced by 19th century impressionists, feature landscapes from central New York – many from the Oneonta area. His video presentation is an amazing feat of special effects. In the video, Cui tells his own story in an imaginative way, integrating his original artwork into a video media masterpiece.
