Barber shop opens for business
NORWICH – The barber’s pole on American Avenue is spinning once again and traditional barbering services are now being offered near a location long associated with the profession.
Mike’s Barber Shop, located at 10 American Avenue and just up the street from longtime city fixture Mario’s Barber Shop, opened for business recently, offering men’s facials, haircuts and shaves.
“For just opening up, I think we’re doing all right,” said owner Mike Titus, who commented that the majority of patrons thus far have been walk-ins. “We’re really looking forward to serving the downtown and surrounding community.”
Titus, along with employee C.J. Williams, have both earned the title of certified master barber, a noteworthy distinction according to Williams, who reported that “there just aren’t a lot of us around.”
