Head-on crash sends two to hospital
OXFORD – Two area residents were injured Wednesday morning following a head- on collision along County Route 27 in the Town of Oxford.
New York State Police reported that 34-year-old Timothy Paden of Oxford and 43-year-old Sally Reeve of Coventry were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after their vehicles collided at the intersection of Rt. 27 and Brookbanks Road.
The two-car accident occurred at about 7:38 a.m. The Oxford Fire Department and the Cooperstown Medical Transport and Coventry Ambulances responding.
New York State Police Trooper Jamieson Tefft reported from the scene that Reeve was traveling north on Rt. 27 in her 2001 Ford Escape SUV when Paden allegedly pulled from the Brookbanks Road stop sign in his 2004 Pontiac Vibe to make a left turn onto Rt. 27. Tefft said the two vehicles collided head-on into each other and had to be removed from the scene with a flat bed tow truck.
Reeve was complaining of neck and head pain and was taken to CMH. Paden suffered a head injury and was also taken to CMH by ambulance. Tefft said both drivers were wearing their seat belts and that their airbags had deployed.
Paden was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
