DEPOSIT – Greene rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to edge Deposit on Friday night.
Brian Day delivered a timely two-out hit doubling in three runs to key the comeback. Day scored an insurance run on a wild pitch. “Funny things have been going for us, and we have scored a lot of runs this year with two outs,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “Deposit’s pitcher did well, and so did Nic (Puglisi) for us. Our kids managed to keep coming back.”
Puglisi went the distance allowing just four hits and no earned runs. He struck out 11 and walked just three as Greene improved to 6-2 on the season.
Ben Thomas was 3-for-3 on the Deposit side.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville received a big-time performance out of Joe Moses to win the opening game of a doubleheader against Sidney on Saturday, and the Warriors gained a split in the nightcap with an impressive hitting performance.
Moses kept the Sidney bats at bay tossing a two-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and seven walks, the first S-E victory of the season.
Moses was equally tough at the plate. He doubled twice, tripled, and drove in three runs in a 3-for-4 day. “Sidney’s coach (Kyle Vibbard) said Moses was the best pitcher he’s seen all season,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “Moses was a little wild, but that was enough to keep Sidney off balance.”
Andy Kozak supplied much of Sidney’s offense in the second game. Kozak homered, tripled, and finished with three hits and four RBI. Dylan Umbra pitched six innings and struck out four for the victory.
“We had some baserunners in the second game, and couldn’t do anything with them,” Hicks said. “Kozak (at shortstop) took away maybe three hits from us. He made some great plays for them.”
Moses continued his strong hitting with two basehits for S-E, who host Sauquoit Valley today.

Bergeron, who logged two innings in a 12-6 opening-game loss, found her control in the second game striking out nine, walking two, and allowing just three hits.
Allison Hicks went 2-for-2 in the victory, and Kayla Nelson had a two-run single. “We realized (Saturday) that we can really hit the ball,” said S-E coach Michelle Parker. “We’re starting to click, and the defense is there.”
M-E took advantage of several base on balls to building a 10-4 lead after three innings.
Ashley Rundell led the S-E offense with a two-run triple.
