Beadle’s Earth Day celebration Saturday to benefit city Youth Bureau
NORWICH – Roche’s Tavern owner Chris Roche said he’s “relieved and pleased” that Gary Beadle, and wife Merrie, will be taking over his annual Earth Day Celebration this year, which will benefit the City of Norwich Youth Bureau.
After over three decades of inviting patrons and friends to celebrate Earth Day at his South Edmeston tavern, and donating to a number of charities, organizations and individuals, Roche said he’s excited for Beadle, a longtime friend, and “hopes to get down there and give him my blessing and wish him the best.”
Those attending Saturday’s event will have the opportunity to participate in several raffles, two 50/50 drawings (3 and 7 p.m.) and may purchase Beadle’s Earth Day T-shirts for $10. 50/50 tickets are 1 for $1 and 6 for $5, with all proceeds from the event benefiting the city Youth Bureau.
Tickets for the celebration are $5 for admission and an additional $5 to enjoy the chicken barbecue.
The gathering will feature a host of local entertainers throughout the day, starting with The Beadle Family Band, brothers Gary and Bruce with sons Bill, Matt and Bruce Jr., performing its trademark old time rock-n-roll and country, longtime local favorites the RPM Dance Band, John Liuzzo and the Breadman, with their traditional take on old school Americana, and the Voodoo Mystics.
“We’ve had a number of friends, patrons and family members come forward to help out right from the start, and we’re hoping that people are ready for a good time,” said Beadle. “We wanted to do something to benefit the community, and what better way to do that than raise money for the Youth Bureau and all of the kids here in the city.”
Beadle’s Earth Day Celebration will run from noon to midnight May 1, at Beadle’s Lounge, 15 Lackawanna Ave. For more information call 334-8706.
