EDMESTON – G-MU won for the ninth time in 10 games this season taking a hard-fought victory from Tri-Valley League rival Edmeston on Thursday.
Edmeston closed to within two runs scoring three runs in the sixth thanks to four Raiders errors.
Ian Edwards delivered the eventual winning runs for the Raiders with a two-run single in the top of the seventh. “We had three big games this week, and you get drained physically and mentally,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson, whose club made eight errors, all of them from the third inning on. “We were up 7-1 in the third and thought we might cruise. We came out relaxed in the third, made some errors, and suddenly it fell apart for a little bit. We were able to pick it back up and get the lead back to 10-5.”
Corin Todd had a two-run single in the first and scored three runs for G-MU. Jon Scofield contributed three hits and two runs scored.
G-MU hosts Morris on Tuesday.

SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Cameron Mikula delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh driving in Dylan Comfort. “It was our best game of the year,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We did a nice job coming back and taking the game in the seventh.”
Adam Monroe and Comfort had 2-for-3 days at the plate for the Vikings, and Karl Graham pitched a complete game striking out four for the victory.

Unatego 11, Unadilla Valley 4
NEW BERLIN – Unatego scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good, and added five runs over the final two innings to pull away for the win.
Jeff Jones’ RBI triple in the third was the key blow for the Spartans. Errors plagued UV in the later innings, and Unatego’s patience at the plate eventually chased UV starter Travis Conklin. “They had some smart at-bats and they consistently worked the count against Travis,” said UV coach Tom Locke.
Cody Chambers and Dale Rifenbark had two RBI for Unatego.
Zach Montgomery homered and doubled for UV finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI.
The Storm (4-7) host Edmeston today.

HANCOCK – Oxford took the lead for good scoring eight runs in the sixth, and Andrew Pier pitched three innings of middle relief to earn his first varsity win.
Down 9-8 to the Wildcats entering the sixth, Jamie Smolcnop’s double scoring Kyle Ferrington with the tying run. Smolcnop scored the go-head run on a wild pitch. Adam Pierson and Derrick Head had ensuing RBI singles, and Pier followed with a two-run single.
“The first key today was that we limited our errors, and we made the routine plays,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Andrew Golden hit a two-run homer in the first for the Blackhawks (4-10) and finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Head had three hits and five RBI including a two-run triple in the seventh to cap the scoring. Pier was 2-for-5 with three RBI in his best varsity game this season.

Stephanie Havens went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Sarah Mannina added two hits for the Spartans.
Jordan Anderson tripled twice for the Storm, but was stranded each time. “They made some amazing plays in the field,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “They always seemed to get the lead runner, and they had some solid hits with runners in scoring position.”
