Norwich 5, Seton Catholic Central 2

BINGHAMTON – Christian Hotaling had his best all-around game this season, and Norwich won back-to-back games for the first time this spring.

Hotaling went 3-for-4 with three RBI, and he pitched a complete-game victory striking out 10, walking one, and giving up two unearned runs. “Christian had his curveball working today, and he just had a tremendous day on the mound and at the plate,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We’re kind of putting the pieces of the puzzle together. It’s late in the year, but this shows we’re making improvements.”

Hotaling put Norwich on the board with an RBI single in the first to score Paddy Law, and Richie Bonney’s single plated Hotaling. Hotaling contributed a two-run single in the fifth scoring Mackey Hotaling and Josh Borfitz.

Norwich (3-7) plays at Owego Wednesday.

Sauquoit Valley 18, Sherburne-Earlville 5

SAUQUOIT – Sauquoit Valley started the game with back-to-back five-run innings, and never looked back in Monday’s romp over the Marauders.

Nick Critelli and Josh Jarecki had four hits for SV, who had 22 hits on the day. “They do a very good job of putting a bat on the ball,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks of the Indians. “They didn’t try to do too much, and when our pitchers got behind in the count, they just hammered the ball.”
