Seiler earns medalist honors at Class C Tournament

MARATHON – Following up his top-five finish at the Section IV Medalist Tournament, Oxford senior Cory Seiler was the low medalist at the Section IV, Class C Team Tournament at Maple Hill Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Seiler, the first local golfer to qualify for the Section IV state tournament in 10 years, shot a two-over-par 72 over the par-70 layout. He had few blemishes on his scorecard – and not many birdies – in a steady performance that was two shots better than any other player.
“(Cory) said he hit the ball great, and that he could have gone really low, like a 68 or 69,” said Oxford coach Tim Paden.
Dan Dey had the next-best score for Oxford shooting a 91, and Chris Marks carded a 98 as Oxford placed 11th in team scoring.
Greene’s Scott Murn finished in a tie for fifth shooting a 77.
Seiler will compete in the New York State Golf Tournament June 5-7 at Cornell University Golf Course.
