Oxford’s first Community Flea Market this Sunday
OXFORD – Antiques, collectibles and other assorted treasures will be among the offerings at Oxford’s first Community Flea Market, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday in Lafayette Park.
Mina Takahashi of Holler Farms in Oxford, who has spent the last several months organizing the event, says she envisions it as “a community swap-meet for neighbors and friends in the region to gather in the park for a day of show-n-tell, sale, and barter.”
According to Takahashi, 15 local vendors have signed up to participate in Sunday’s event.
“We expect a wide range of items from barn and attic treasures, antique hardware, collectibles, Oxford memorabilia to garage sale items, furniture, and free samples of baked goods,” she reported.
A self-proclaimed lover of flea markets, Takahashi said she first had the idea for the event shortly after relocating to Oxford.
“When we moved to the area a few years back, we found treasures in the barns and basement that we couldn't use but thought others would appreciate,” she explained.
She found the perfect venue for her event while selling organic vegetables, herbs flowers, eggs and baked goods under the Holler Farm banner at the weekly farmers markets held in Lafayette Park during the summer and fall.
“We thought it would be fun to have a community flea market there,” she reported, explaining her hopes of turning the event into a yearly occurrence.
A rain date has been set for Sunday, June 13. For more information, contact Takahashi at 843-5699 or via email at hollerfarm@gmail.com.
