Donna Frech dancers celebrate 35th anniversary
NORWICH – The annual recitals of the Donna Frech School of Dance – with a special celebration of the studio’s 35th anniversary – begin tonight in the Norwich High School Auditorium on Midland Drive.
The first performance of “Blast From the Past” features the senior dance troupe at 7 p.m. The action continues on Saturday with the junior performers showcasing “Launching Our Future” at 1 p.m. The seniors appear again at 7 Saturday evening, and the recitals wind up with another junior performance in a matinee at 1 on Sunday.
In keeping with tradition, the group of graduating seniors, some of whom have danced at the studio together for 13 years, will be recognized for their accomplishments and dance together in a lyrical piece titled, “The Call.” They are: Whitney LaVoie, Norwich; Megan McLaughlin, Norwich; Micaelina Velardi, New Berlin; Morgan Gunther, Sherburne; Leah Schmitt, Sherburne; Shelley Bluy, Norwich; and Brittany Hayes, New Berlin.
Tickets may be purchased for this weekend’s recitals at the door or in advance at the studios on Birdsall Street and in Vestal, at Service Pharmacy and First Edition Bookstore in Norwich, and at Bartle’s Pharmacy in Oxford. The matinee performances showcase junior dancers, but both junior and seniors perform in all four recitals.
