AFTON – The Town of Afton will celebrate the recent expansion of the municipally-owned Afton Medical Center with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday. The public is invited to attend the event, which will take place at the medical center, 25 Evergreen St. in Afton.

The center, which serves patients from Chenango, Broome and Delaware Counties, was purchased by the town in 1973. Since that time, the municipality has leased the facility to Dr. Stephen Dygert.

Within the last few years, Dygert was joined in the practice by his daughter, Dr. Paula Dygert. Together, they see approximately 200 patients a week and employ a staff of 21, including nurses and a physician’s assistant.
