Coventry opens up town hall as “cooling station”

COVENTRY – Coventry residents looking for respite from the heat and humidity this week need look no further than the Coventry Town Hall. According to Town Supervisor John Phelan, the facility, which doubles at as the Windy Hill Senior Center, will be open to the public as a cooling station from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Friday.

“Many of the residents don’t have air conditioning,” Phelan said, because typically there is little need for it. “We put the system in (the town hall) many years ago for just this type of emergency.”
