Temple Baptist welcomes new pastor

NORWICH – In June, the Temple Baptist Church welcomed Pastor William Chapman to lead its congregation.
Formerly from New Hampshire, Chapman, who is 76, has been an assistant pastor in parishes in Virginia for the past three years. He is a missionary pastor and member of the Church Planters to America, an organization based in Auburn that helps small or struggling churches open up new houses of worship.
“Our hope is to bring the church to a point where they have a parsonage, increased numbers, and finances to be able to call a full time pastor,” he said. Chapman and his wife, Winifred, recently moved to the City of Norwich.
The approximately 25-year-old church is located on Grotsinger Road off state Route 12 South. There are about 40 current members. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., followed by church services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. A Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer meeting begins at 7.
