Park Place ‘Idol’ competition to expand

NORWICH – Due to the unexpected success – and turnout – at the first round of the Park Place Restaurant and Lounge Idol competition last Saturday night, owner Dave Cirello has announced the local talent showcase will expand to include additional contestants – and a bigger cash prize at the end.

“We were extremely surprised by the large number of people who came out to compete, and even more so by the size of the crowd that turned out,” said Cirello. “It was just a fantastic night; it was packed in there.”

Celebration Creations owner and Park Place Event Coordinator Kerri Green concurred, and stated, “We were very happy with the turnout of not only local singers, but the crowd at Park Place Restaurant was excited and having a great time. We are hoping for a fun night again this weekend for round two.”

Green reported the event will expand to include ten competitors in the final round, as opposed to the six previously reported, and the top three vocalists still standing at the finale will now earn $250, $125 and $75 for first, second and third place.
