Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties slated to receive $3 million for high speed internet

ALBANY – U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, Congressman Michael Arcuri, NY-24, and Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack have announced that $3,143,839 in funding will be coming to the Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties in order to deploy high-speed broadband internet.

The project will bring high-speed DSL broadband service to unserved rural areas in parts of Coventry, Afton, Bainbridge and Greene. The funding will be made available to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation within the next two to three weeks, a spokesman for Schumer said. Projected dates for beginning and completing the work project are unknown.

The investment comes through a provision in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
