CCADC Announces Barn Revitalization Grant Program
NORWICH – The Chenango County Agriculture Development Council (CCADC) recently approved a new Barn Revitalization Grant Program. This new program allocates $2,000 of program income from a previous grant cycle to help revitalize and refresh some of Chenango County’s barns that may need a “facelift.”
Chenango County farm and agricultural land owners are eligible to apply for up to $400 in grant funds which are to be used specifically for the purchase of paint and related supplies (paint brushes, rollers, and trays) to accomplish the project. Requests for funding should be matched with cash or in-kind contributions from the applicants. Labor costs for the project are not eligible expenses and will not be reimbursed.
To be considered for funding, applicants should have a barn structure on their property that is at least 2000 square feet, and in significant need of repainting. Photos of the barn to be painted are to be submitted with the application; upon completion of the painting projects, recipients will be expected to submit photos of the painted barn along with receipts from the paint and supplies in order to receive reimbursement.
Working farms will be given preference over properties that are not working farms. Applications for this funding opportunity are available immediately, and must be received by 5 p.m. on Sept. 9 in order to receive consideration.
Those interested in applying for the barn revitalization grants can stop by Chenango County Cooperative Extension at 99 North Broad St., Norwich to pick up an application; or email Chair Jennifer Tavares at jtavares@chenangony.org to receive an email copy. For information by phone, contact Tavares at 334-5532.
