Cynthia Gardiner receives Chamber Employee of the Month Award
NORWICH – Cynthia Gardiner, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Chenango County, was selected as the recipient of Commerce Chenango’s August Employee of the Month Award.
Ken Smith, Executive Director, Cornell Cooperative, says “Cindy spends countless hours, many of them unpaid, supporting the work of our 4-H, Eat Smart! program, horticulture and agriculture programs. In addition to her tireless work for these programs, she provides a sympathetic ear and encouragement to all she interacts with. She makes a special effort to encourage the many young people she comes in contact with.”
Cindy gives of herself both on and off the job. She is a community volunteer and works almost non-stop for both the Sherburne and Smyrna fire departments and their auxiliaries, as well as for the Boy Scouts of America. She has dedicated her life to helping others and making sure those around her are happy and cared for.
The Employee of the Month Program was implemented to recognize outstanding employees, and Cindy’s co-workers say that she’s very deserving of the award and she truly epitomizes the meaning of an outstanding employee. Cindy lives in Smyrna with her husband Mark and black lab Jake.
The Chenango County Extension Service Association began as the Chenango County Farm Bureau on Jan. 30, 1915. Today, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Chenango County, provides information and educational resources to improve lives of the people of its community. Although primarily agriculture in nature, other informational services are available in areas of food safety and nutrition and plant science; and Chenango County is proud to offer opportunities to the youth of the community through the 4-H Youth Development Program.
Cynthia received $100 cash, made possible through the sponsorship of Mang Insurance Agency, a $50 gas card from Mirabito Energy Group and a gift certificate from Nina’s Pizzeria. If you are a Chamber member and would like to nominate someone, call Jill at 334-1402.
