Wine-tasting fundraiser Sunday at 6OTS

OXFORD – You're invited Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5:30 p.m., to join 6 On The Square (6OTS) to sample wines from New York State and throughout the United States, and even a few international vinos. This is a wine tasting fundraiser for 6 On The Square, Inc.. Tickets are $25 per person which covers an assortment of delights, including live music, for the senses.
Experience a truly interesting variety of wines, in a fun and casual, party-like atmosphere. Light education will be provided while sipping on a diversified offering of wines from dry and delicate to sweet. A souvenir folder will be provided to jot down your personal notes, evaluating each wine, and to remember favorites to get later.
As a complement to the wines, there will be many tempting treats – more like “culinary experiences.” Hors d’oeuvres or palette cleansers, you will be able to nibble on many local savory food appetizers and dessert goodies. Many will be from Chenango Bounty - fresh foods from local farms and producers. There will be flavorful cheeses, meats, veggies, breads, dips, spreads, chutneys, and more, deliciously seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. If you like sweets, you’ll be in the right place too. There will be delectable cakes and even a chocolate fountain for dipping!
To treat your ears, live music will be performed by Oxford’s own artist-musician, Francis Wilcox on the piano. You won’t miss that important game either as there will be TV with “silent football” on.
You may enjoy participating in the 6OTS raffles -even if you don't attend the event! There will be unique gift certificates to win from local businesses and craftspeople.
While you’re enjoying the wonderful tastes and smells of the wine and food, you can also preview selected paintings by Elissa Gore, George Doerre, Lisa Ianello, and Charlene Walling, members of The Colorscape Chenango Plein Aire Painters of Central New York. (On exhibit at 6OTS through Sept. 30.) This summer, the artists worked at different sites throughout Chenango County, creating works that depict life in our community. These same paintings will be part of a Silent Auction held Oct. 14, from 5-8 p.m., at Golden Artist Paints in Columbus to benefit Colorscape.
Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information. Fundraiser tickets are $25/pp and may be purchased on-line, at the door or from 6OTS board members: Dave Davis; Margaret Davis; Pam Giltner; John Knapp; Liz O’Rourke; Jeanie Petersen; or Carol Semonco. All the proceeds from this Fundraiser will benefit music and arts programming at 6OTS, a not-for-profit, volunteer-based, community music and arts venue.
6OTS is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. Phone: 843-OTS6 (6876).
