OXFORD – G-MU rallied from a one-goal deficit to repeat as champions in the Oxford Blackhawks Tournament.
After Greene’s Evan Moxley put the Trojans (7-1) up 4:11 into the second half, Greg Delaney took a through pass from Corin Todd, and he scored just 1:12 later. Todd had the winning goal off an indirect kick with 11:15 left in the game. “That was a nice set piece past our wall,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman of the winning goal. “We outshot and outpossessed them on the field, G-MU just executed a couple of plays, and we didn’t.”
Greene advanced to the finals with a 2-1 win over Oxford on Friday. Nate Patrick and Mikki Brown scored for the Trojans, who were locked in a 1-1 tie with the upstart Blackhawks. Oxford’s goal came from Jake Carr. “Oxford played very well, and their keeper (Branden McConnell) was outstanding,” Tallman said. “They wanted it more than us, and we were fortunate to pull the game out.”
In the consolation game Saturday afternoon, Oxford nipped Norwich, 1-0. Statistics were not available at press time.
G-MU advanced to the finals beating Norwich, 3-0. DeMario Reed had two goals for the Raiders in the victory.

Afton scored its first goal of the year. Brandon Stevens scored off a Josh Akshar pass. “It was our best game of the year,” said Afton coach Todd Dancesia. “We were down two starters at sweeper and goalie; the kids played their hearts out.”

OXFORD – Paige Wilcox had a hat trick for the Trojans, who built a two-goal lead at halftime over Oxford en route to the Oxford Tournament title on Saturday.
Sierra Stoppkotte also had a goal for the Trojans, who are now 6-1-1 on the season.
Julie Heggie had both of the Blackhawks’ goals. Oxford falls to 2-4-1 overall.
Friday, the Trojans advanced to the finals beating MAC league rival Unatego, 3-0.
Nicole Tumminia and Rebecca Smith had first-half goals for Greene. Wilcox added an insurance goal in the second half.

UTICA – Sherburne-Earlville had a full lineup for boys and girls, and put forth improved efforts almost down the line, said head coach Anne Geary.
“We didn’t have our full complement of boys, and this was the time the other guys could make a difference,” Geary said. “They all stepped up to the challenge.”
Dan Palmiter led S-E’s finishers timing a 19:39 to place 16th out of 95 runners. Dakota Nelson placed 38th in 20:52, and Jeff Verry was 45th in 21;11.
Sofeia Eddy continued to shine for the S-E girls. Eddy was ninth out of 90 runners timing 22:06 over the 3.1-mile course.
S-E is at Sauquoit Wednesday and hosts its annual Invitational on Saturday.
