SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville produced its highest scoring output of the season blanking Canastota on Monday.
Emma Karaman finished with her first hat trick of the season. Briana Vibbard added two goals and two assists, and Bridget Irwin tacked on a pair of tallies.
S-E led by three goals at the half, and all three scores were netted within the game’s first four minutes. “It was a rainy, dreary day, but the girls were excited to play after having a week off due to cancellations,” said S-E coach Kylie Davis. “It was a nice win for us. We have a lot of important games coming up.”
Saturday, the Marauders blanked Norwich 6-0 in a non-league matchup.

Boys’ Soccer

Otselic Valley 7, George Jr. Republic 1
FREEVILLE – Otselic Valley’s reserves received substantial time on the field, and they accounted for the majority of the offense in a non-league rout of George Jr. Republic Monday.
Brandon Huntley had a hat trick for the Vikes (8-2), who jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead. Teddy Brush added two goals, while Dylan Comfort and Hunter Grace added to the sum.
“We were able to play a lot of kids that don’t play as much,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “Those kids got a lot of time tonight, and they were able to put some goals on the board.”
The Vikings play Stockbridge Valley on Wednesday at SUNY Morrisville.

Seton Catholic Central 2, Norwich 0
NORWICH – Seton Catholic Central scored both of its goals three minutes apart in the final 7 1/2 minutes of the first half in Monday’s shutout win at Norwich.
Mark Ziolkowski had the first goal at 32:48 when he deflected in a cornerkick from Brendan Covert. The insurance tally was an own goal as a pass by Mike Wan into the center of the Norwich defense bounced around, and eventually richocheted into the goal after a failed clear attempt.
“We played a very good game and it was tightly contested,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey. “We seem to give up goals late in the half that are real killers.”
Norwich plays Afton at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a non-league game.

Field Hockey

Greene 3, Windsor 0
WINDSOR – Greene started a little slow, but the result was the same as the previous eight contests.
Jahna Driscoll scored all three Trojans goals to push her season total to 21 as her team improved to 9-0 – all shutout wins.
“The first half, I felt we played a little tentative,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We played a much better second half. Emma Anderson and Brandee Schoonmaker had good games. Andrea Day had two assists, and she played well.”
Driscoll scored the first goal 10 minutes into the game, but took 27 1/2 minutes to give her team an insurance goal.
More importantly, Driscoll helped preserve the shutout streak. After goalie Devyn Staley made an initial save of a Windsor shot, a follow-up shotr was stopped and cleared away by Driscoll on the goal line. Also, Windsor had a one-on-one breakaway that was turned away by defender Colleen Dietrich. “Colleen was able to contain the girl and played back until she got help, then she made a great tackle,” Carlin said.
Greene (9-0) is at home today against Harpursville.

Girls’ Tennis

Norwich 6, Owego 1
OWEGO – Norwich can clinch a share of the STAC Central Division title this week after picking up its seventh win of the season Saturday in a make-up match with Owego.
Norwich swept all four singles matches with the lone defeat coming at third doubles. The Tornado face Susquehanna Valley today at 4 p.m. in a rescheduled matchup from Monday. “We’re looking for the community support to come out and see some of the best tennis we’ve had here in a long time,” said Norwich coach John Stewart.
Norwich trails Sus Valley by one game in the loss column and can earn a share of the division crown with a victory.

AFTON – Norwich won its fifth match of the season defeating Afton in a non-league contest Monday, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18
Rhea French served six aces for Norwich. Taylor Cook, Alexis Perez, and Jessica Hubbard all had two kills apiece.
Brit Moore led Afton with six kills, and Cassie Prezorski finished with 17 assists.
