Purple Tornado Marching Band finishes second at New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD – The New Hartford Marching Spartans edged out the Norwich Purple Tornado Marching Band by a score of 82.60 to 78.75 in New Hartford on Saturday, one week after the Purple Tornado’s first place finish in Auburn. This week will find the ensemble in preparation for the 37th Annual Fall Festival of Bands, to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Ulrich Field. Other participating bands will include Westmoreland, Johnson City, Vestal, Horseheads and New Hartford. Tickets for the event are $5 in advance, $6 at the gate, and may be purchased at Garf’s Deli, the Norwich Family YMCA and the offices of the Norwich Pennysaver.
