Winterize your body with a flu shot
NORWICH – The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that individuals from 6 months up through seniors receive flu vaccine this year. UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital recommends that you see your health care provider to receive your flu vaccine, but if you find it more convenient to go to a flu clinic, there are five scheduled across the local area.
Garry Root, Director of Community Relations, pointed out that three of the clinics are in local schools. “At those clinics, we will be equipped to give the vaccine to children age four and older through senior citizens. Everyone is welcome to come to these clinics as long as they are at least four years old.” At the other two flu clinics, there will be vaccine for adults and for children ages ten and older. All of the clinics are open to the general public, and no appointment is needed. Just come to the site at the time of the flu clinic.
The flu shot clinic schedule is as follows:
• Tuesday, Oct. 12, 4 - 6:30 p.m., Unadilla Valley Primary School gym. Open to the public including children and parents and others age 4 through senior citizens.
• Thursday, Oct. 14, 4 - 6:30 p.m., Norwich High School gym. Open to the public including children and parents and others age 4 through senior citizens.
• Tuesday, Oct. 19, 4 - 6:30 p.m. Oxford High School. Open to the public including children and parents and others age 4 through senior citizens.
• Thursday, Oct. 21, 4 - 6:30 p.m., Sidney Civic Center, Liberty Street. Open to the public age 10 through senior citizens.
• Monday, Oct. 25, 4 - 6:30 p.m., UHS Primary Care, 38 A Classic Street, Sherburne. Open to the public age 10 and older through senior citizens.
With Medicare, Medicaid, or UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital school-based health center coverage, the entire flu shot fee is covered. Anyone with other insurance coverage will be charged $34 and will receive a receipt to submit to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Area residents are encouraged to select the time and place convenient for them. For more information, call 337-4028.
