Cyclones' A, C teams win league titles

NORWICH – Playing before a large crowd at Alumn Field Sunday, the Norwich Cyclones’ A and C teams won Tri-Valley League Pope Warner titles, and each team finished with unbeaten regular season records.

The Cyclones’ C team downed previously undefeated Whitesboro 6-0 for the title.

The Cyclones enjoyed field position the first half in a defensive struggle with Marcus Benjamin reaching pay dirt on a two-yard plunge in the second quarter.

The Cyclones played stiff “D” the entire game holding the Warriors at the eight-yard line in the fourth quarter on stops by Ty Rifanburg and Benjamin. Cameron Ivan had an interception and a fine return, and Ryan Borden had a key fumble recovery. Carter Rudnitski, Drew Walsh, Tim Thompson, Alex Wehrli, Zackary Mills, Owen Blackman, along with the entire defensive unit, held the Warriors out of the end zone.

The Cyclones’ B team played undefeated league champion Whitesboro Warriors, and fell, 27-6.
