Sherburne chorus presents fall concert Sunday
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Community Chorus will present their Fall concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21 in the Sherburne-Earlville High School Auditorium.
Programmed are four Psalm arrangements by the English composer and conductor John Rutter. Soloists with the Chorus include sopranos Jenni Larchar and Gloria Lenhart, and tenors Steven Emmons and Carl Pickett. Rosemary Jaytaine will be at the piano.
The second work, “An Outbreak of Peace” was written by South Carolina composer Dr. Andrew Fowler. Based on the happening in 1914 when both French and German soldiers put down their weapons on Christmas Eve to exchange songs of the seasons from their cultures including “Minuit Chretiens/O Holy Night,” the German “Von Himmel Hoch” by Marttin Luther, and many more. woven with narrative, by soloists: mezzo soprano, Elizabeth Bouk of the Colgate University faculty; baritone, James Hudson, Professor Emeritus of Corning Community College; and tenor, Steven Emmons, recent Fredonia graduate. Accompaniment includes a brass quintet, cello, clarinet, percussion and piano.
Tickets are available at the door at $10 general admission; $8 seniors & students free.
