NHS Hall of Fame to announce induction class

NORWICH – The Norwich High School Sports Hall of Fame will announce its first induction class next week in the pages of The Evening Sun sports section.
The intent of the nominating committees in the inaugural year of the Hall of Fame was to limit the number of inductees, and to look at athletes as far back in Norwich sports history as possible, provided accurate information and statistics are available.
Committees were established for pre-1970 and post-1970 Norwich athletes, with boys and girls each eligible for election.
Athletes, coaches, and teams considered for induction, this year and in future years, will be assessed primarily on the merits of their high school accomplishments above all other athletic achievements. Additionally, the athletes must be a Norwich High School graduate with a graduation date of at least 10 years prior to the current induction year.
The tentative date for the dinner and induction ceremony is Saturday, June 18, 2011.
