SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville used its full-court press and the high scoring of veterans Caitlynn Adams and Bridget Irwin to advance to the finals of its own tournament.
Playing its first game of the season, S-E jumped out to a 37-20 halftime lead. Adams had four three-pointers in the first half and 15 of her 19 points. Irwin scored 10 in the opening half, and kept the scoring pace up in the second half finishing with a game-high 21 points. Sierra Morris, playing her first varsity game, reached double figures with 10.
“Our game plan was to be aggressive with our press, and we thought an up-tempo game would play into our favor,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan.
UV (0-2) settled down in the second half, but failed to make a dent in S-E’s lead. Amanda Off led the Storm with 15 points, Charlee Weidman added 13, and Jordan Anderson scored 10.
S-E plays B-G in the finals on Saturday at 6 p.m. UV meets Hamilton in the consolation game at 2:30 p.m.

Jordan Peterson had 24 points for the Emerald Knights, and her 10 points in the second quarter staked her club to a 27-19 halftime lead.
Shania Vandermark and Randi Conway led the B-G comeback. Vandermark had 11 of her game-high 23 in the second half, and Conway scored eight points in the fourth as B-G was able to pull away at the end. Conway added 14 points in the win.

OXFORD – Oxford won its first dual meet in two seasons Thursday against Oneonta showing a balanced lineup that won matches in the lower, middle and upper weights.
Devin Depew started it off for the Blackhawks winning by decision over Ryan Ackley, 5-3 at 140 pounds. “It seems really good to get enough guys into the lineup to break through,” said Oxford coach Craig Tefft. “The guys are pretty excited. We have a good mix of seniors to provide leadership, and we have some young guys that are off to a good start this season.”
Clayton Audette (171) followed up a pair of forfeit wins for Oxford with a win by technical fall. Joe Nelson (96) kept his unbeaten streak alive with a pinfall, while Austin Crandall (112), Jeremiah Winter (119), Trenton Piatt (125), and Nick Hansen (130) all picked up wins by pin.
Oxford visits Delhi on Tuesday.

JC anchor, Micah Neiss, finished with a 762 series, the highest total rolled against the Tornado keglers this season.
Kevin Rooney posted a season-best 727 series to lead the Tornado, and Darrel Humphrey added a 604.
Norwich’s JV team won 401 to take over first place in the STAC Central Division.
