DVD Patrol

We’re in the home stretch, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol has been pretty busy wrapping up presents and finding a bunch of gifts for everybody. Everything for this week are all brand new and they won’t disappoint. The Toddster hopes everyone has been enjoying our specials with the anniversary and James Bond. Also, we are on our way to the end of the year but we have to wrap up 2010 first. Let’s see what there is!

New on DVD

Inception - There’s an old saying, “With Great Power comes Great Responsibility.” Someone forgot to tell that to Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the makers of “The Dark Knight,” Cobb happens to be in the information business. He does it in an unusual way. Dom has the power to project himself into a person’s dreams. If it’s in there, he can get at it. He’s made a pretty good living at stealing people’s ideas, but when something goes horribly wrong, he loses it all. They always say second chances might come with a price and Dom is given one. This time, instead of stealing an idea, he has to put one into someone’s mind. A new enemy emerges and threatens Dom’s mission. Will he succeed and stop this new threat? My sources tell me that Director Christopher Nolan is already at work on “The Dark Knight Rises” and will be released in Summer 2012.

Shrek Forever After - Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Shrek (Mike Myers) used to enjoy scaring the villagers and the mere mention of his name would send them running. Times have changed. Now, Shrek has become a family man where he’s married to Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and is raising the kids. He loves his family but he wants just a taste of what he used to have. Rumplestilskin finds out about Shrek’s longing for the old days and has a way for him to do it. Shrek decides to take it but making a wish has a price. When the day is over, the wish he made has changed everything. His kids are gone, he was never married to Fiona, and his friends Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) don’t know him. Can Shrek find a way to get the life he had back? This one is supposed to be the last one but there is a spinoff in the works with Puss in Boots. Should be fun!

Also on DVD

Twilight: Eclipse - Love is always a complicated thing. Especially, in the case of Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). When last we left our three heroes, Bella was confronted with a hard choice. Jacob had admitted he cared for Bella but Edward had proposed to her. Now things have gone back to normal. As much as they can be, anyway. Victoria is still coming after Bella, but now a new vampire threat has emerged and as much as Edward and Jacob don’t like each other, they’ll have to join together to save Bella and the rest of the townspeople. Are they going to be able to stop them? The next installment of Twilight is called “Breaking Dawn” and is being worked on right now. This will also be released in two installments with the first set for release in November 2011.

Knight and Day - It’s such a small world you never know who you’ll meet. June (Cameron Diaz) was on her way to her sister’s wedding when she bumps into Roy Miller (Tom Cruise). June thinks she has hit the jackpot when she meets up with Roy again on her flight. June excuses herself for a few minutes. She comes back to see that Roy has killed everyone on the plane, including the pilots. He tells June that he is really a government agent and to expect company from people looking for him but admits that he is really one of the good guys. June comes home to find agents asking everything she knows about Roy, but Roy shows up to save her and goes on a wild ride around the world not knowing what to expect from him. Is June going to be able to find out what she wants about Roy and find a way to complete his mission? Cruise is currently at work on “Mission Impossible 4” and is set to be released in theaters next year.

Time to take a break. A few people have been asking what our final Toddster teamup for 2010 will be. You’ll have to wait and see. Have a great week and try to stay warm. The Toddster will return.
