Prayer service tonight for Willette Northup-Thompson

OXFORD – A candle-light prayer service in remembrance of Willette Northup-Thompson will be held at 9 tonight at the United Methodist Church, 36 S. Washington Ave. in Oxford.
Known as “Willie” by her friends and family, Northup-Thompson was a 1997 graduate of Oxford Academy. On Dec. 8, Willie lost a courageous battle against the brain tumor with which she was diagnosed in March of 2009.
Though she relocated to Michigan in 2001 – where she both studied and then practiced law, as well as met her husband, William B. Thompson – she maintained close ties to her hometown through her family and friends. Her death has left many in the community mourning, including the group of friends who have helped organize tonight’s service. They intend it to be a chance for those who knew the vibrant young woman to gather for prayer and reflection. All are welcome to attend.
Calling hours are scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St. in Oxford. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Oxford United Methodist Church.
