UV falls to Sidney by three

SIDNEY – Katelyn Philpott scored nine of her 16 points in the fourth quarter as Sidney overtook the Storm in Thursday night’s game.
UV led by six points at halftime, and still had a one-point edge entering the fourth, that despite foul trouble to two of its starters.
“We just had trouble getting into a flow the whole game,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “Our foul shooting killed us.”
UV finished 11-for-24 from behind the charity stripe, and was just 5-for-15 if you take away the makes and attempts of sophomore Amanda Off. Off scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the loss.

EARLVILLE – Sherburne-Earlville’s record dropped to 1-1 on the season losing to Canastota Thursday at Hi-Skor Lanes.
Chad Potter had a 593 series to lead the Marauders, whose JV team won 5-0.

Volleyball

Oxford 3, Delhi 0
OXFORD – Oxford evened its record at 3-3 (3-1 league) on the season sweeping three games from Delhi on Thursday.
Olivia Roach served a team-best nine aces and had five skills to share the team high with Chelsea Roach. Chelsea Roach also had eight assists. “Tonight, we worked well together. We had some great plays and magnificent serves,” said Oxford coach Kim Martin.

Boys’ Basketball

Harpursville 57, Greene 56 (Wednesday)
HARPURSVILLE – Greene was unable to hold its slim lead in the fourth quarter, and Mason Dean’s bucket with six seconds left in the fourth gave Harpursville a one-point victory over the Trojans on Wednesday.
Tyler Boudreau scored a game-high 24 points to lead Harpursville.
Jeff Carlin had 17 points for Greene, Sam Adams scored 14, and Isaiah Webb 10. Greene was hurt by its foul shooting making just 3-of-11 attempts.
