Youth Hunter scholarship awarded

NORWICH – At the onset of 2009, and in honor of the legacy of the late George R. Genung, Jr. as an avid woodsman who hunted since his boyhood for sporting enjoyment as well as food for the table, The George R. Genung, Jr. Youth Hunter’s Foundation was established with the expectation that we’d be able to support the advancement of young hunters in a marvelous quest for safety and excellence in the sport.
Carol Ann Henderson, President of the George R. Genung, Jr. Youth Hunter’s Foundation, is pleased to announce the foundation’s first bi-annual award of $1000 to Matthew Yacano for his promise as a Chenango County youth hunter. Because of his contentiousness as a safe hunter by education, the guidance of his family, and above all - good practice, along with his ability to harvest food as an upstanding sportsman, and his promising bright future as a responsible young hunter, Matthew Yacano has been given this grant to further his interests in the field. Many thanks go out to all the very generous people who readily supported the ideals of this foundation honoring young hunters with the quest for excellence in this chosen sport a greater opportunity to excel in their endeavors.
For Chenango County boys and girls who turn 14 years of age in 2012, and who are interested in receiving a grant from this foundation to aid in supporting their education and outfitting for safe and responsible hunting practices, please write a letter of why you are interested in receiving this award with a signature of both parents and/or legal guardians, and send it to: The George R. Genung, Jr. Youth Hunter’s Foundation, 3382 County Highway 18, New Berlin, NY, 13411. If funding is available through more generous donations to the foundation, then it is anticipated that the next grant will be awarded in December of 2012. Certainly, for those interested young hunting enthusiasts, it is worth taking a chance for! Please include a self addressed stamped envelope with your letter. Contact by letter only will be accepted. Amounts of the monetary awards granted by this foundation are based on available funding and this foundation does not dictate or accept responsibility for the way in which the award money is spent by its recipients.
Among the many this foundation would like to thank for their very generous donations are: Howard Sullivan, Gerrard Burrs, Dick Snyder and Circulars Unlimited, Terry J. Bresina, Barbara Izard and Carl Utegg, Sally Snyder, Zeyneb Henderson, Kimberly and Edward Greiner, Robert and Hiroko Davidow, Brian R. Scranton, Mary Genung, Rachel Clayton, H.W.
