Auditions tonight for Afton production of ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’
AFTON – If you can dance, sing and act a little, the Afton Community Theater invites you to audition for its upcoming production, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” Auditions for the show – which is based on the 1988 film starring Steve Martin, Michael Caine and Glenne Headly – will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the Afton High School auditorium.
“The play centers on two con men living in the French Riviera, who try to work together but soon find out this small French town isn’t big enough for both of them,” explained Robin Haddad of Bainbridge, who is involved with the local theater group.
The cast will include three male leads and three female leads, as well as an ensemble of six men and six women.
“Come prepared to sing, dance and read,” Haddad said. Those who audition will be asked to sing a song from the show, she added, but are welcome to sing a song of their choice as well. While music will be taught at the audition, those wishing to prepare in advance can visit www.musicaltheatreaudition.com, and select Dirty Rotten Scoundrels from the list of shows.
The show will be performed before Afton audiences on April 29, April 30 and May 1 in Afton. An encore performance has been scheduled for May 7 and 8 in Norwich. More details will be released as those performance dates approach.
For more information on the auditions, contact Director Cameron Kinnear at (607) 201-3383.
