Police looking for suspect in New Berlin liquor store robbery

NEW BERLIN – Police are looking for a man who entered a New Berlin liquor store and assaulted the owner in a violent daytime robbery.
New Berlin Police and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to New Berlin Liquors, 64 North Main St., after the business owner called 911 shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.
The owner put up a fight against his attacker, police said. He was taken by New Berlin Ambulance to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown with minor injuries.
Police are looking for a white male, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 20 to 25 years of age, wearing blue jeans, a dark colored winter jacket and a red knit hat.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 337-1924 or 337-1970 or the New Berlin Police at 847-8900. All calls will be kept confidential.
