Monthly film series continues

NORWICH – The Second Tuesday’s  fifth public film showing is “This Land Is Our Land : the Fight to Reclaim the Commons,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main, Norwich.   Attendees are welcome to come at 6:30 for food and to stay afterwards for discussion.  Admission is free,  but please park in the street, in nearby Hayes St. or county office building lots; not in the church’s parking lot.
“This Land Is Our Land: the Fight to Reclaim the Commons” is about how transnational corperations have been undermining our collective interests by buying up what is known as the commons – everything from our forests and our oceans to our broadcast airwaves and our most important intellectual and cultural works.  The film places the commons squarely within the democratic traditrion of community engagement via the free exchange of ideas and information, modeling how a bold new international movement is working to reclaim our public wealth with practical alternatives.
This educational “The Second Tuesday Monthly Film Series” is sponsored by Chenango County Peace Action and C-CARE (Chenango Community Action for Renewable Energy). Contact Chris at 334-6095 or Ken at ccare@frontier.com for more information.
