Community Expo and Job Fair planned for May 7
NORWICH – Local businesses, non-profits and other community groups will have a chance to showcase their products and services this spring during the 2011 Chenango County Community Expo and Job Fair.
The event, which will be free and open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at The Giant’s Warehouse, 5176 County Road 32 in Norwich.
“The purpose of the CCC Expo and Job Fair is to showcase products, services, businesses and job opportunities in the Chenango County area,” explained Kerri Green of Celebration Creations, the Sidney-based wedding and event planning firm which is coordinating the event in conjunction with sponsors Smith Ford LLC/The Giant’s Warehouse and the Central New York Radio Group.
Green, who has hosted business expos in both Delaware and Otsego Counties, said it has been several years since Chenango has seen a similar event.
“I really believe Chenango County is a great community and a great place to live,” she said, explaining that she envisions the expo as a way of making the entire community aware of the opportunities they have right in their backyard.
“I am happy to collaborate with Celebration Creations on this event,” stated The Giant’s Warehouse owner Bill Tyrell, in a statement issued earlier this week.
The local car dealer has promised Green the use of both the warehouse and the surrounding lot for the event.
“The main show will be in the warehouse,” she said, where businesses will set up booths and job seekers and community members will circulate. The outdoor space will be reserved for home improvement related-companies, landscapers, construction companies and the like who wish to set up more elaborate displays. Community groups and clubs will also be encouraged to set up in this area to provide food and conduct fundraising activities.
Local business people will have a chance to pre-view the expo the evening before the main event during a special Business After Hours-style reception.
At present, Green is actively seeking sponsors and both business and non-profit vendors for the show.
“We’re hoping for at least 40 vendors,” she said, representing a good cross section of what Chenango County has to offer.
Those interested in participating or learning more can contact Green by phone at (607) 267-8541 or via email at kerri@celebration-creations.net. Information about the event is also available on the Celebration Creations website, www.celebration-creations.net.
