Two snowmobilers airlifted after accident

PLYMOUTH – Two 20-year-old snowmobile riders were airlifted to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City Monday after they wrecked along a wooded trail and struck a tree.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver, T.J. Brownell, and his passenger, Amanda Christian, both of Edmeston, were injured at about 4:43 p.m. Monday after their snowmobile careened from an established trail.
Two were thrown from the snowmobile and struck nearby trees, with Christian suffering unknown injuries to her leg, arm and neck. Brownell suffered injuries to his hip and legs.
After arriving on scene, the Norwich Fire Department and EMS immediately called the Life Net of New York Helicopter based in Sidney to evacuate Christian. Medical crews originally transported Brownell to the Chenango Memorial Hospital; he was then airlifted to Wilson Hospital.
