Three local gridders named to all-state teams
SYRACUSE – Three Chenango County football players were recently honored by the New York State Sports Writers Association as 2010 all-state football selections.
Bainbridge-Guilford senior Dakota Vandermark, and Vandermark’s teammate, Billy Holden, were Class D second-team picks on offense and defensive respectively; while Norwich senior, Tyler Hoffman, was named to the Class B fourth team defense.
Vandermark, a two-year starting running back, set a new B-G single-season rushing record this past season finishing with 1,339 yards to go with 12 TDs. Vandermark had six 100-yard rushing games topped by a career-high 322 yards against Deposit-Hancock. “Dakota just had a breakout year,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly. “With his running style and his leadership, he came in this year with the attitude that he wanted to get after it and do well.”
