Acee appointed to National Public Power council

WASHINGTON, DC – William Acee, Mayor of the Village of Sherburne, was named to a one-year term on the American Public Power Association’s Policy Makers Council last week.
APPA is the Washington, D.C.-based national service organization representing the nation’s more than 2,000 not-for- profit, community-owned electric utilities that serve 46 million consumers in 49 states.
The Policy Makers Council assists APPA in promoting federal legislation that is important to public power systems like Village of Sherburne and opposing harmful legislation. It also provides advice on other issues of importance to APPA.
“Your commitment to public power and your experience with the political process will be a great asset both to the PMC and to APPA,” said Lonnie Carter, chairman of the APPA upon making the appointment. “As we look for ways to communicate the value of public power to the members of Congress, the PMC will need to call on you and the other members of the Council to share their experiences.”
The council is made up of 40 members who serve on either utility boards or are elected officials in public power communities. Four members are appointed to the council from each of the 10 geographic regions recognized by APPA. In addition, there are a number of “at-large” members of the council from across the country who are appointed based on vacancies in the 10 regions.
