G-MU loses for second time in three games

COPES CORNERS – G-MU slumped to its second loss in three games falling to Worcester on Monday night.
Josh Hunt had 19 points for the Wolverines, and teammate Ryan Sklenka added 17. G-MU came as close as three points in the fourth quarter, but Hunt helped seal the win making 5-of-6 from the foul line.
“Tonight we were beaten in every conceivable way,” said G-MU coach Bill Hartman. “They had more spirit and communicated better. We were as flat as flat can be.”
Eddie Ray Cotton scored 14 for the Raiders, and DeMario Reed added 11. G-MU plays at Deposit Wednesday.

Wrestling

Windsor 42, Norwich 38
WINDSOR – Windsor, with a full lineup at its disposal, took advantage of Norwich’s depleted roster to earn the four-point dual meet victory on Monday night.
On the next-to-last match, Nate Hayes’ pin at 112 pounds secured the Black Knights’ win against a Tornado team that several starters out of action.
“We were planning on having a couple more kids in the lineup, things just happened,” said Norwich coach Joe Downey. “You have to go out and make do with what you have. Windsor was definitely the better team tonight.”
Recent STAC champion, Frank Garcia, had Norwich on top early with a pinfall at 125 pounds. Tanner Cummings (140), Anthony Vitiello (160), and Kegan Levesque (215) also had pins. Giving up three forfeits to the Black Knights, though, was too much to overcome.
“Right now, we just need to get healthy,” Downey said. “It’s near the end of the season, and Windsor is still putting out a full lineup. Give them credit.”
Norwich faces Greene Saturday at 9 a.m. at Chenango Forks High School in the first round of the Section IV Dual Meet Tournament.

Jessica Sweiton led the Magicians with 15 kills to go with two blocks.
Dana Stapleton had three kills for S-E, and Shelby Sheffler was charted with four digs. S-E hosts Cooperstown Thursday.
