B-G finished with 10 three-pointers out of 16 field goals, and 41 of its 48 points came from sophomores. “It looks like we relied on the three-pointer, but on the other hand, we don’t have much of an inside game with Porter on the bench,” said B-G coach Ben Nelson.
Bauerle finished with 20 points and fellow sophomore Connor Glassett added 14.

GREENE – Greene won for the fourth time in five games to move over the .500 mark for the first time since early in the season, while defending MAC champion Oxford slumped to its fourth defeat in five games.
“I think we’re starting to get it as a team,” said Greene coach Rick Smith, who could not recall the last time Greene beat Oxford in varsity play. “Tonight was all about defense for us. None of the individual stats jump out at you, it was just a total team effort on the defensive end.”
Sophomore point guard, Dan Treadwell, had 12 points and was 4-for-5 from the free throw line in the last quarter. Isaiah Webb and Kyle Gorton added a pair of charity tosses in the final stanza as the Trojans (8-7) were able to pull away at the end.
Evan Moxley had a team-high 14 points for Greene, and Moxley’s defense against Oxford’s leading scorer, Andrew Golden, was singled out by Smith. “He played Golden straight up, and did a great job for us,” the Greene coach said.
Golden finished with nine points for Oxford (6-9).
“We’re getting a sense of what it takes to win big games,” Smith said. “It’s the dirty work, and it’s the little things like taking care of the ball and playing good defense. The last two games, I couldn’t be any happier.”

Cincinnatus 46, Otselic Valley 45
SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley found itself on the short end of another tight ballgame Friday night.
Cincinnatus made up a three-point deficit with 33 seconds left to deal OV the setback. It was the third one-point loss for the Vikings this season, who also have two other setbacks by two points.
OV seemed to be in control when Dusty Davis grabbed an offensive rebound after a missed free throw, and put it back with 33 seconds left to give his club a 45-42 lead. Cincinnatus’ Joe Peri had an answer at the other end hitting a three-pointer with less than 15 seconds to play to knot the contest up.
The Vikings set up for the winning shot, but turned the ball over to Peri without getting a shot off. Peri was fouled with 0.4 seconds left, and made one of two free throws for the win.
“The game was close most of the way, we just made too many mistakes offensively to put the game away,” said OV coach Dave Loomis.
Davis continued his strong offensive play finishing with 24 points to lead the Vikings. OV hosts Brookfield on Friday.

Cooperstown 68, Sherburne-Earlville 59 (OT)
COOPERSTOWN – State-ranked Cooperstown needed overtime to prevail over Sherburne-Earlville Saturday night in a battle of Center State Conference division leaders.
S-E made up an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter scoring 10 straight points to grab a 55-53 lead. Branden McDaniel hit a three, and Randy Briggs followed with five straight points to tie the game. Matt Piazzi’s bucket with 2:43 left put S-E in front.
Cooperstown responded with six straigth points of its own, and Jeremiah Ford’s foul shot put the Redskins up three, 58-55 with 30 seconds left.
“I wanted it to play out after the foul shot, but we weren’t getting a good look, so I called a timeout with 14 seconds left to set up a play,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard.
The play did not work, but the Marauders swung the ball to Briggs on the wing, who buried a tying three ball with two seconds left to set up extra minutes.
From there, Cooperstown limited S-E to a single free throw.
“We had good looks in overtime, we just didn’t finish,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard, who noted the first-half ankle injury that sidelined Cameron Yerton hurt his team’s outside shooting.
McDaniel had his best performance this month leading S-E with 20 points. Briggs added 12 in the loss.
Ford and Sam Bowen scored 28 and 21 points respectively to pace Cooperstown. “Ford was almost unstoppable,” Vibbard said. “He’s big and athletic, and we had a tough time with him on the wing.”

Delhi 49, B-G 48
BAINBRIDGE – Despite leading scorer Ryan Porter fouling out and scoring well below his season average, B-G nearly pulled out a win against Delhi Saturday.
Tyler Hymers’ two free throws with 22 seconds left proved the difference. Austin Bauerle hit the last of his six three-pointers leaving the Bobcats a point short.
Lucas Cipperly scored 20 points for Delhi, who took the lead in the second quarter outscoring the Bobcats, 14-2.

Greene 52, Oxford 38
