No day off for Norwich students next Friday

NORWICH – Norwich students will have school next Friday, based on a change to the district calendar. Students were originally slated to have the day off, but that is no longer the case, according to district officials.
“This winter we managed to quickly use all five of our allotted snow days,” Superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan explained in a message sent out to the district’s parents and staff. “Faced with the strong possibility of another March snowstorm, flooding or some other building or district wide emergency we must alter our instructional calendar.”
As a result, the Superintendent’s Conference Day originally scheduled for next Friday has been rescheduled for April 22. Students and staff will be expected to report for a regular school day on March 18.
“I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we are obligated to maintain a state approved attendance total for instructional days,” O’Sullivan said.
