Beachley & Scott Band: Bluegrass merger burns bright

EARLVILLE –  It’s really fun sometimes to be in on something from the beginning! The Earlville Opera House welcomes the newest merger in the realm of Bluegrass, the Beachley & Scott Band with their spine-tingling harmonies and straight ahead hot-picking on Sunday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in the Arts Café.  

Darren Beachley & Barry Scott may be two of Bluegrass Music most recognizable voices. Collectively they spent 14 years in one of Bluegrass music’s greatest bands Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver (1996-2009). Darren and Barry were part of Quicksilver when the band earned seven consecutive IBMA Vocal Group of the year awards.

After leaving DL&Q, both musicians continued to make their mark. Barry in his band Second Wind would receive a Grammy Nomination in 2010 for his gospel release “In Gods Time”. Darren fronting his band Legends of the Potomac would have his release “Takeoff” be one of the top Bluegrass CD’s of 2010. His vocals drew this review from Dan Tackett writing for Bluegrass Journal: “Beachley slices through the band’s sound like a red-hot knife through melted butter.”
