Norwich Tea Party Patriots hold rally Saturday
NORWICH – In celebration of their very first rally on Tax Day, April 15, 2009, the Norwich Tea Party Patriots will hold a large Tax Day rally this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the East Side Park in downtown Norwich. This is the group’s third Tax Day Rally since their founding by Charles Resseguie in 2009. “This was in response to the TARP and Stimulus Bills, the government take-over of two car companies, and staggering national debt and spending, among other national concerns,” said Norwich Tea Party Patriots coordinator Gilda Ward.
There will be a full slate of great speakers including Duane Motley, Founder of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms; James Sacco, Constitutional lawyer; Jay Townsend, former challenger to Sen. Schumer and taxpayer activist; Jim Losie, NRA rep. who will discuss gun rights; Dr. Larry Maxwell, Revolutionary War re-enactor and head of Brighter Future; Tom Marcelle, attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund; and Max Tollens, businessman and tea party activist, and others.
There will be live music provided during the rally by Merle Matts and Friends, formerly known as the Route 66 Band.
Ward said, “We encourage all patriots to come make their voices heard and learn what is happening in their state and nation. Come join us as we work to get our nation on the right track again. Together we can make a big difference. Look how far the tea party has already come, but we have so much more to do to protect our state and nation and fix the mess that we find ourselves in right now.”
Refreshments will be available. The rally will be held rain or shine.
