Oxford Youth Sports Program fundraiser Saturday

OXFORD – The Oxford Youth Sports Program will host a chicken barbecue and bake sale Saturday to raise money for the not-for-profit group, which offers soccer, t-ball and basketball programs for children ages 5 to 12.

“Our goal is to keep kids active while teaching sport fundamentals and having fun,” explained OYSP President Tim O’Brien. The McDonough resident took the helm of the organization earlier this year.

This Saturday’s fundraiser will take place at the American Legion Post in Oxford and feature a “Tim & Tim” chicken barbecue starting at 10 a.m. According to O’Brien, halves will be sold for $6 each until it’s gone. He offered a word to the wise – get there early, because they expect to sell out fast.

“There will be a bake sale going on, and we’ll be selling our new line of OYSP merchandise,” O’Brien added.

That merchandise will feature the organization’s new logo – a stylized Blackhawk in honor of the Oxford Academy and Central School District’s mascot.
