Have you been wondering exactly what Americana music is? We have been seeing more and more bands with this description! The world is made simpler these days with our communal knowledge stored online in Wikipedia; they describe ‘Americana’ music as merging folk, country, blues and rock & roll.  ‘Americana’ is also often called ‘Alt-country.’  The Americana Music Association describes this melting pot music:  “American roots music based on the traditions of country. While the musical model can be traced back to the Elvis Presley marriage of ‘hillbilly music’ and R&B that birthed rock ‘n roll, Americana as a radio format developed during the 1990s as a reaction to the highly polished sound that defined the mainstream music of that decade.”

David Lynch described McMule for CD Baby: “McMule is an acoustic string band based in New York’s Hudson Valley. Pristine vocal harmonies and old-time instruments create a unique sound that combines folk, bluegrass, country blues, swing and more … Great vocals, fine musicianship and an eclectic repertoire has resulted in a diverse yet loyal following.”
