Relay For Life, St. Paul’s team-up for chicken and biscuit dinner
OXFORD – Relay For Life of Chenango County is partnering with the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for a chicken and biscuit dinner to benefit the upcoming relay, to be held July 15 and 16 at the Chenango County Fairgrounds.
From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the St. Paul’s Parish House, 32 Main Street, guests will have a chance to enjoy a tasty, home-cooked meal, according to Charlie McMullen of the Episcopal Church’s Outreach Committee, which will also include garlic mashed potatoes, lemon-butter broccoli and brownie sundaes for dessert.
“It’s for a great cause and this ought to be a good evening,” said McMullen of Saturday’s dinner. “Like so many, I’ve been personally impacted by cancer and wouldn’t it be great if we could find a cure?”
Two-time cancer survivor Joan Bradley, a member of both the Relay and Outreach Committees, said she, McMullen and fellow Outreach member Bonnie Emerson are hoping to make the dinner an annual event.
“This is very important to me, on a personal level. Families, friends, there are so many people I’ve known over the years that have survived cancer and there are those that haven’t, that’s why this is so important,” stated Bradley. “Whatever we can do to help find a cure for this awful, devastating disease, every little bit helps.”
